The Script

A script is a composition of words that are expressed in dialogue to create a play.  The script is essentially the base of the play and the production. Without a script, nothing else can be done, because there would not "instructions" on what to do. It is the words and actions on the paper. The play is acting out these words and actions, and putting life to them. The play has actors acting out these particular words, but it does not give full detail on what the script is supposed to look like. However, the production is still bigger then the play because it encompasses the words, actions and set design, lighting, etc. which follows the imagery the script has planned. However, the production adds more then what just the script says, it adds character, lighting and other information needed to pull the script together.  I agree with this quote because as you go from script to play to production more information and pieces are added all making the production a whole. This allows it to come to life and lets the viewer see and hear what is going on and how the script should look like. This relates to this class because we are learning about sets, diolouge and how to bring them all together. In this class, we will be doing productions, so knowing this information we will know we have to start at the base, the script.
